Long Electric Co. has been family owned and operated for more than 70 years. Founder Kenneth O. Long successfully operated the business from 1951 until 2009. Ken’s son n law, Fred Armbruster continued from 2009 until 2022. The tradition is continued today by daughter and wife Patricia Armbruster. Ken Long went to work for West Texas Utilities right after WWII. Soon, he moved on to Galbraith Electric and worked extensively in Snyder, wiring houses in a new development. In 1951, he started Plowman-Long Electric Co. in his garage, then bought Cliff Plowman’s share of the company in 1961. In 1973, he moved the business to its present location on East Highway 80.
